Hey Stu, thanks for stopping by! I have considered biking as a mode of transportation, but in the foothills of Pittsburgh we have the proverbial "biking uphill to work, both ways, in the snow" ;) And don't let me forget to tell you the time I killed a black bear with my three ring binder.

But there is a BIG difference doing the stationary bike and getting on the road. I have a bike and getting out on the road is MUCH more of a workout than the stationary.

Biking, biking, biking. ;)

I have never been able to be in a gym and enjoy working out. But, I have discovered bike riding again after a 20 year layoff. Think a fat guy can't ride a bike? Some people do but they are wrong. They even have a term for us...Clydesdale (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=248). You need to do it right but I know 400 pound guys who can outdistance me on a bike. It is a pretty low impact for us big guys too.

I have even come to the point where I commute (20 mile round trip) to work as often as possible and doing that takes very little time away from the family. None in the morning as I am up and gone before the family even when driving and maybe a half hour difference in commute time in the evening. And I get almost 2 hours of exercise out of it.

Just a thought for those who cannot motivate themselves to e indoors working out on a stationary piece of equipment.
